Obal for business

Turn closing time into revenue

Every evening you decide what to do with what didn't sell. Obal gives you a third option between discounting your whole counter and throwing it out.

For business

Your surplus is already paid for. Sell it.

Bread, pastries and prepared food you write off at closing time cost you money twice — once to make, once to throw away. On Obal it becomes revenue and a customer who now knows your shop.

Recover the cost

Get paid for stock that would otherwise be written off at the end of the day. You set the price and how many bags go up.

Meet new regulars

People come to your counter who'd never been in before. A good bag is the cheapest introduction you can buy.

No extra work

Pack what's left, set a collection window, hand it over against a code. It fits into closing up, not on top of it.

How it works

How it works for your shop

  1. 1

    Tell us about your place

Message us on WhatsApp with your shop's name, address and what kind of food you'd put in a bag. We'll set your shop up on Obal.

  2. 2

    Put up a bag

You choose the price, how many bags and the collection window — usually the last hour or two before you close.

  3. 3

    Customers reserve and pay

Bags are paid for in the app up front. You see what's reserved and nothing is held without payment.

  4. 4

Hand it over against a code

The customer shows a pickup code at the counter, you hand over the bag. That's the whole interaction.

FAQ

Partner questions

What does it cost to join?
Getting listed costs nothing. We take a commission on the bags you actually sell — message us and we'll walk you through the current terms for your shop type.
What if nothing is left that evening?
Then you don't put a bag up. Nothing is scheduled for you and there's no minimum — some partners list every day, some only on the days they know they'll have surplus.
Who decides what goes in the bag?
You do. You know your stock and your margins. The only rule is that the contents are worth clearly more than what the customer paid.
Will this cannibalise my full-price sales?
Bags go up for the end of the day, not for your busy hours, and the contents are a surprise. Customers who want a specific item at a specific time still buy it at the counter.
